Rare Early Silhouette Leg Serving Dresser
With Three Frieze Drawers Raised on Unusual Spiral Profile Legs
Solid Well Patinated Oak
English c.1680
33 ¼” high x 75 ¼” wide x 19” deep
Ref: 6313
A most unusual and somewhat eccentric early serving dresser raised on six silhouette spiral form legs, joined by all round stretchers. The plank top, with moulded edge is set above three long frieze drawers with frame moulded boarders. This rare example is unusually shallow in depth and has a delightful coltish “leggy” quality, enhanced by the movement created by the leg design. The solid English oak timber has a rich chestnut skin colour and well patinated and burnished surface. A real one off example of great character, that would sit comfortably in both a contemporary or traditional interior and benefits from charismatic form and practical function.
