Fred Archer (1857–1886) was one of the greatest jockeys of the 19th century, dominating British horse racing. Archer was known for his tactical brilliance, strength, and near-perfect riding technique.
Ormonde was a legendary thoroughbred, bred by the Duke of Westminster at Eaton Stud. Known as the "horse of the century," Ormonde was praised for his speed, stamina, and perfect conformation.
Fred Archer rode Ormonde to victory in all three Triple Crown races in 1886. Their most famous race was the Epsom Derby, where Ormonde dominated the field despite a slow start. Archer reportedly called Ormonde "the best horse I ever rode."
Their partnership is remembered as one of the greatest in horse racing history.
