With a Single Piece Circular Top and Stick Legs
Solid Honey Coloured Elm

England c. 1780

27.25” high
15” in diameter

Condition: Fashioned from solid well figured elm, this primitive tripod candlestand has a wonderful sculptural presence and would sit comfortably in a traditional or contemporary environment, due to its quirky shape and bold simplicity. The honey coloured elm single piece top is raised on a faceted stem and supported on three ”hedgerow” timber legs, one of which has a delightful cast in its shape. There is no evidence of significant damage or restoration and the piece is in ”as found” original condition, bearing the scars and bruises commensurate with its age and function.
